in Toronto - WOMEN AS EVOLUTIONARY LEADERS: The Power of Sisters in Circle
As a young woman holding the future in your hands, where and how do you find hope,
joy, inspiration and courage?
Can you turn to the past? How can you find your roots while coming to terms
with the legacy of challenges which past generations have left behind?
Can you turn to the future? How can you
find your wings and access the hope, vision and courage you need to create a fulfilling life and a world which is safe and
fulfilling for all the children?
Can you turn to yourself? With so much resting on the younger generation, how
can you trust yourself to act wisely on behalf of life?
For millenia, women have found their deepest wisdom and
power by coming together as sisters in sacred circle. Please come and share your deepest questions and wisdom with others
for they are the roots and the wings of our future world.
Bio:
Marilyn is passionate about helping transformative
leaders break through the internal and external barriers that prevent them from accessing and living their fullest vision
of possibility - both for their own lives and for the world. She is a transdisciplinary educator and transformative coach who uses her art, writing, coaching
and group experiences to help transformative leaders open the doors to the power of their deepest potential so their leadership
is set free to create its fullest possible impact in the world.
Co-author of Circles of Transformation (Transformative
Learning Centre, OISE/UT), her current research and writing focuses on understanding the capacities evolutionary leaders need
to develop in order to respond effectively to the challenges and opportunities of our time. She is an associate of the Transformative
Learning Centre (OISE/UT). This workshop is part of:
Hearing and Listening: Youth and Elders in the Web of Life, June 18th - 20th, 2010. Co-sponsored
by the Transformative Learning Centre and the Indigenous Education Network, OISE / University of Toronto http://www.oise.utoronto.ca/tlc/UserFiles/File/write%20up%20and%20invite.pdf OWNING OUR LIGHT: WOMEN COMING OUT OF THE CLOSET AS TRANSFORMATIVE
LEADERS (enquire about upcoming dates)
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is
that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us…” (Marianne Williamson)
At this time of the ‘Great Turning’ - a time of tremendous collective challenges and
opportunities – women are increasingly being called upon to stand up as leaders and to take on transformative roles
in their workplace, businesses, communities and the world.
And yet, one of the most overlooked challenges facing women who yearn to make a difference are
not the obstacles in the outside world, but their own fear of success and what leadership might cost or ask of them.
During this workshop we will identify
and release some of the internal blocks that prevent us from owning our power as women. We will identify how we might better
take care of our needs and fears so that they can guide us rather than stand in the way. We will recommit to what most deeply
matters. And, through ritual, group discussion, and creative processes, we will help each other move through our metamorphosis
as leaders who can stand up boldly for the change we envision in the world.
