What do you see as you look out in the world today?

If you can see both the danger and opportunity in these uncertain times, and choose to actively participate in co-creating a future worth living for future generations, you are what I'd call a
transformative leader...

March, 2009

Dear friend,

When most people look at the world today, all too often they see danger - chaotic markets, massive job loss, ecological degradation and a 'great unravelling' of our way of life. They respond with anger or fear, by hunkering down or by narrowing their expectations of what's possible - both for themselves and the world. Or they simply close down and resign themselves to what the BBC has referred to as 'a new, bleaker world.’

But you see something different, don’t you?

You see in these times a critical opportunity for each of us to take stock and rediscover what really matters. You see - on the collective level - a 'Great Turning', a rebalancing and regeneration of our systems and way of life. You see conditions that are ripe for the kind of collective shift of consciousness that can generate the creative breakthroughs necessary to re-invent a more human and sustainable world - the kind of world that you want to leave for your children, grand-children and future generations.

And . . . you want to seize the opportunities present in this time to maximize your own personal contribution to life and the world.

I want to start out by sharing my gratitude to you for who you are and your presence in the world... just by holding the belief that a better world is possible I believe that you are making a difference, whether you know it or not.

Whether you're clear about the contribution you want to make, whether you know how to go about it, and whether your contribution is focused on changing the lives of a few - or you're working on a global scale - your contribution matters.

I believe that the kinds of shifts we are undergoing call for change at every level - from the micro level of the individual to the macro or systems level. And I have seen too many examples of the ripple effect to ignore the impact that one person can have - for good or otherwise.

What matters is that you're willing to listen to your heart, to follow your values, and that you have the courage to have a bigger vision for both your life and the world. And it matters that you find a way to step up to the plate - to be a participant in creating the future rather than a spectator.

If you're not clear yet what your contribution might be, I would urge you patience, self-compassion and the trust that your path will become clear as long as you stay faithful to your intention. That intention alone can create ripple effects.

And if you are clear about your contribution, I'd urge you to continually look for ways to protect, sustain and grow your impact - it's critical.

And if you could use help along the way, I'm here to walk with you - to help you gain the kind of transformative learning experiences and the tools you need to put you on the leading edge of the innovation curve. To help you engage with the questions of our time - and find the perspectives you need - so that you're really leading from a place of wisdom and awareness.

Why? I want you to make the biggest impact you can, to be able to have the confidence and capacity to lead without a blueprint and guarantees. So that, by stepping up to this challenge, both your life and the world will be infused with a new strain of creative possibility.

Who am I? I think of myself as a gardener who helps transformative leaders like you to grow into their largest potential and impact.

I help them stretch their capacity for deep, wisdom-based leadership - wherever they are on their path. And I help them clear away the weeds that are choking that path so that they can truly make the contribution that they're here to give.

Just know that you don't have to figure it out alone... I invite you to come out to one of my inspiring, thought-provoking talks, to join with like-minded others at one of my issue-based workshops, to give yourself the gift of a replenishing retreat or to immerse yourself in the process of transformation through private coaching.

Thank you for your willingness to step out and act on behalf of life... I hope to have the privilege of meeting you and walking that path with you... I invite you to browse my site and to learn more about
who I work with.

With love, and gratitude for your being a part of this 'Great Turning',
